In this episode we welcome our guest, Lauren Huffmaster, Founder of Adventure Therapy Foundation and RISE coaching program. She shares how her own experience with metastatic cancer led her to create her organization and help others through the emotional side effects of cancer. She also sheds light on the importance of time in nature and finding community.
Lauren was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer at the age of 37, and as a young mother with metastatic cancer, she understands the emotional burden that cancer brings into the life of a patient and his/her immediate family. In 2017, she founded Adventure Therapy Foundation, a nonprofit that exists to give families impacted by cancer the opportunity to find healing through cancer coaching and emotional release in the outdoor retreats. And In 2022 she launched RISE, a curriculum-based virtual platform for promoting good mental health in and through cancer.
